Micro irrigation, also called drip irrigation or low-volume irrigation, delivers water directly to the root zone of the plant. There are many parts to a typical drip system, but a Micro irrigation system offers users the most value, including better control and water savings. There are many options for gardeners and the list of options can be daunting.
It never hurts to contact the local master garden through the county extension office for help with plant watering needs. Here in Idaho they can be found at https://www.facebook.com/UIExtension.Kootenai.IdahoMasterGardenerProgram/ They are an excellent resource when planning a landscape and people who genuinely love plants and sharing their knowledge. For all of us who wish we knew more but can't seem to find the time it's nice to be able to reach out for some help to determine the water needs of our local plants.
Once we know the individual plants watering needs we can design the best functioning drip system. Remember the goal is that each plants differing water needs are all satisfied by the same run time on the drip zone. The nozzle choices become clear when the plants needs are considered. Happy watering and good luck.
